The difference between waterproof cable and water resistance cable
2023-09-18
What is a waterproof cable?Waterproof cable mainly refers to preventing water from entering the interior of the cable structure. It is the use of structures and materials with waterproof functions on the sheath of the cable.JHS is a waterproof cable and also belongs to a kind of flexible rubber-sheathed cable. The insulation is rubber-insulated. Like ordinary rubber-sheathed cables, JHS waterproof cables are often moved and used, except that they are in water or some places that will pass through the water. Waterproof cables are generally 3rd-class cores. Most of them are used when connecting water pumps. The price of waterproof cables will be more expensive than ordinary rubber-sheathed cables. It is difficult to distinguish whether they are waterproof from the appearance. You need to consult the seller to know the waterproof layer.Recently, there have been heavy rains in many places, and we can still live normally, and waterproof cables have contributed greatly.Do you know anything about waterproof cables? So, what is a waterproof cable?Usually what we call waterproof cables generally refer to diving cables, which are special cables for water pumps, model JHS.Rubber-sheathed cables are also waterproof, but they are not professionally waterproof, but wires and cables are waterproof in different senses.First of all, not all cables are waterproof. Whether they are waterproof or not is determined by the laying environment of the cable. Generally speaking, waterproof cables include cables laid in inland rivers or on the seabed.Such cables generally have a longitudinal waterproof isolation layer, and they generally have to be armored.
Waterproof cable structure type 1.For single-core cables, the insulating shielding layer is wrapped with a semi-conductive water-blocking tape on the top, an ordinary water-blocking tape on the outside, and then the outer sheath is squeezed. In order to ensure full contact with the metal shielding, only the single-conductive water-blocking tape is wrapped outside the insulating shielding, and the water-blocking tape is no longer wrapped outside the metal shielding. Depending on the waterproof performance requirements, the filling can be made of ordinary filling or water-blocking filling, the inner lining layer and the outer sheath material are the same as described in the single-core cable. 2.The inner longitudinal aluminum-plastic composite belt layer of the outer sheath or inner lining is used as a waterproof layer. 3.Squeeze the HDPE outer sheath directly outside the cable. XLPE insulated cables above 110kV grade, with metal sheathing to meet the waterproof requirements. The metal sheath is completely impermeable and has good radial water resistance. The main types of metal sheaths are: hot-pressed aluminum sheaths, hot-pressed lead sheaths, welded wrinkled aluminum sheaths, welded wrinkled steel sheaths, cold-drawn metal sheaths, etc. The waterproof forms of waterproof cables are generally divided into two types: longitudinal water resistance and radial water resistance.Longitudinal water resistance is generally commonly used in water-blocking yarn, water-blocking powder and water-blocking tape. The water-blocking mechanism is that these materials contain a material that can be expanded in case of water. When water enters from the end of the cable or from the sheath defect, this material will quickly expand in case of water to prevent water from spreading further along the longitudinal direction of the cable, realizing the purpose of longitudinal waterproofing of the cable.Radial water resistance is mainly achieved by squeezing HDPE non-metallic sheaths or hot pressing, welding, and cold drawing metal sheaths. The difference between waterproof cables and water-blocking cables Waterproof cables: To prevent water from entering the interior of the cable structure, structures and materials with waterproof functions are used.Water-blocking cable: Only water is allowed to enter the interior of the cable, and it is not allowed to penetrate to the specified length under the specified conditions.Water-blocking cables are divided into conductor water-blocking and cable core water-blocking. Conductor water-blocking structure: Water-blocking powder and water-blocking yarn are added during the monofilament stranding process. When the conductor enters the water, the water-blocking powder or water-blocking yarn expands in case of water to prevent water penetration. Of course, the solid conductor has better water-blocking performance. Water-blocking structure of the cable core: When the outer sheath is damaged and the water enters the water, the water-blocking belt expands in case of water. When the water-blocking belt expands, the water-blocking section is quickly formed, preventing further penetration of water; for three-core cables, it is quite difficult to achieve the overall water-blocking of the cable core, because the gap between the three-core cable core is large and irregular, even if the water-blocking belt is used to fill it all, the water-blocking effect is not good. It is recommended that each core be produced according to a single-core water-blocking structure, and then the cable is formed.
